Obesity Epidemic: USA Second Fattest Country in The World

The United States of America recently lost its title ‘the fattest country in the world’ to Mexico. Let’s cheer up. We can get that title back once the Democrats let enough illegals stream in for us to get our trophy back.

We can hardly blame obesity on the country of origin that supersizes everything. Who needs a supersized Big Mac? Even large people should not eat most of these supersized meals. But is obesity to be blamed on the children? We have to place some blame on the parents who allow this to happen. When an entire family is obese it is often easy to see why, especially when you stand in a buffet line behind them. Bad habits start young. We adults must accept some responsibility for this.

Is it entirely the fault of parents? The social stigma of being fat is no longer socially or politically correct. How did all this happen? We stopped physical education because it would be embarrassing to children who were too fat or too skinny. Wow, what a concept, children are different. Perhaps looking at normal body weights in the nude in the locker room may be an incentive to change.

Have you all noticed that it is impolite to make jokes about obesity? We also should not criticize someone who is obese. But no one cares if we call the super models emaciated. We do not want our children to become like that for goodness sake. But the fact of the matter is, we do not see many large people walking down Parisian runways for the new spring fashions. Why is that?

One more thought. Why do we give cattle antibiotics to put on weight? We do it because it works. We do not know why antibiotics work to put on weight. I am guessing that perhaps American antibiotic use and overuse in children could have the same effect. It is just a guess. Surely, we are not the same as animals, are we?
